Different agencies around Australia have different ways of extinguishing fires in the relevant area.

Fuel Management

To conserve fuel management, you can do the following:

• If you live in an area which gets ravaged by bushfires on an annual basis like the Northern Territory, don't do things that can increase the severity of a fire
• Even though it takes a little while for a cigarette to take effect if it is dropped don't drop it in a forest or a bush because if a fire starts from a dropped cigarette butt then if an external fire starts somewhere else, then both fires can form together to make a huge fire which gets out of contol very quickly and can cause multi million dollar damage
• Don't light fires even small fires if you live in an area which has surrounding forests because wind can blow a flame and that can start a fire somewhere else.
